Yes, Yosemite!

Warm temperatures mixed with plentiful snow made for an exceedingly fun weekend with family and friends in Yosemite last weekend. I'm hoping we will get some photos from those more camera-equipped, but here are a few shots from my phone. In addition to playing in the snow, we enjoyed sledding, ice skating, and swimming.

Mia's Room -- New and Improved!

Mia's room was becoming pretty unbearable, with overburdened bookshelves and dozens of baskets and containers that could no longer contain the massive amounts of stuff that had collected over the last few years.  Thanks to our new bookshelf and a spurt of motivation to get organized, Mia's room is now habitable again.  Everything has its own place and, with great hope, it will stay that way for at least a short while.  Here's to OCD tendencies that arise at least once every decade.

On a cold day that begged for indoor activity, we headed into a bowling alley. It was Teagan's first attempt at throwing (and by that I mean pushing the ball down into the bumpers) the ball, and she enthusiastically embraced the sport with applause and dancing. Mia enjoyed time with a classmate and knocked down quite a few pins, some on purpose.

Since I am short on time, but desperately in need of new book shelves in the kids' rooms, I had no choice but to brave IKEA on a Saturday with the girls in tow. It was quite the balancing act getting from the store to the car with two kids sitting precariously on top of a stack of heavy boxes, but we did it - in no small part because Mia and Teagan were so easygoing and well-behaved. Lucky mama. Now moving on to the next dilemma- anybody know how to assemble shelves?!?

Vacation is in our rear view mirror and while it was a wonderful time, there is something comforting about getting back in the groove and normal routine. That means park visits, running around holding hands, and sporting a favorite hat.
