A spontaneous opportunity to tag along with our friend, Ridgely, on her neighborhood trick-or-treating transformed our typically quiet Friday into a particularly sweet weekday. Cinderella (decked out from her school party earlier in the morning) was only too happy to indulge in a blue lollipop after collecting her stash.
This is a textbook (pun intended) Mia pose. Deep in thought, lost in a story -- furrowed brow and all. And she lived happily ever after.
Today the playgroup celebrated its fourth Halloween together. Even some of the little ones joined us, although some were not so thrilled with sitting still for that long. Kai, Veronica and Ridgely were all there, too, but weren't available or the group shot. For nostalgia's sake, here is a look back at the first three years:

Rainy days are here again, a little early for my liking, and Mia celebrated with an ensemble that only she could pull together. The choo-choo rainboot swim princess, I presume?
Baby Girl was a little camera shy a couple of weeks ago, so I returned to the doctor again today to see if we could get some more face and brain shots. I'm happy to report that she was far more cooperative today (please, let that be a sign!) and all looks just as it should. She is a mover and a shaker -- except for that left hand, which seems to always be tucked up against the side of her head.

The two Corey cousins hit the Discovery Museum's Halloween Goblin Jamboree today despite soggy weather. The monkey and the princess had a grand time petting the animals, riding the ponies, climbing through the tunnels, rocking the guitar & riding the train. They managed to squeeze in some hugs, too, although Cole remains skeptical about those snuggles.
Mia and David had a special day together today. After kicking the day off with Mia's favorite panda cereal, the duo headed to Oakland for Disney on Ice. Naturally, our Cinderella had a fabulous time. David reported mid-way that she was "enraptured" by the spectacle of seeing Ariel, Mickey, Tinkerbell and other buddies. After the show, they headed to lunch, where Mia later announced to me (with great pride and excitement) she ate "New York style pizza." Mia might have taught David how to cheer on mermaids as they do a double toe flip, but it was David who taught Mia the finer points of folding a gooey cheese slice. Both sides of the playdate declared victory.
Mia and Mom spent a few hours today at Tara Firma, a really wonderful working farm in Petaluma that is kind enough to give tours of the grounds on Sundays. Mia had the chance to hold a chick, pet and play with lots of piggies, feed a goat, and see lots of cows, turkeys, horses, and even the farmhouse dog (and pig). There was a sizeable vegetable garden, too, so she was able to touch the tomatoes, carrots and kale. After she got over her initital shock at just how dirty pigs can be, Mia declared that to be her favorite part, naturally. Here are some more photos: |
