Mia, Meet the Big Apple

Mia and Lara have decided to hitch a ride with David on one of his business trips to New York.  I can only imagine what her reaction is going to be to her parents' old residence.  Here she is getting into the spirit of our travels -- her first bagel.

I have no idea what she is actually trying to say, but Mia is on a new kick where she looks at me and says, "Buh buh?" It makes for some funny faces while she enunciates:

Strawberry Shortcake

Mia's hair had been recently looking more blondish than red, but here in her strawberry pants, Miss Shortcake appears most definitely as a redhead to me.

Mia, A Case Study in Sleep Deprivation

Life for a nine-month old is pretty exciting.  So exciting to Mia, too exciting in fact, to even consider sleeping through the night anymore!  It is by far more fun to pace her crib in the wee hours, playing over and over in her mind how exactly one is supposed to get a handle on this walking thing.  Her parents are quite sleepy, but Mia seems fine on so little slumber.  Here she is, playing this morning in her colorful sundress, warmed up to accommodate the San Francisco chill.

This is why we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new, child-friendly media cabinet.

Mia prefers the entertainment value of the exersaucer as experienced outside the toy (note cute leg raised on the edge).


And to answer Grandma's question -- yes, Mia has plenty of clothes. She just appears naked and/or bare-legged so frequently because pants make her frustrated when she tries to crawl on the hardwood floors.

Nine Months!

Mia Corey is Nine Months!

Big month for Mia. She learned to crawl, to cruise, to wave hello and goodbye, to make lots of babbling noises (including what I believe is her word for Otter), to walk while pushing her Radio Flyer wagon, to eat chicken and turkey (which makes David, the family meat eater, very happy), to drink from a sippy cup, to NOT nap in her crib (because walking around the edge is SO much more fun) and, generally, to make every day a big ol' ball of giggles.
