Mia's New Friends

Our friends, Mike and Mildred, stopped by with their niece this morning to meet Mia. Mia doesn't look so tiny when a three year old is holding her.

In the department of small victories, Mia slept in her basket the entire night, happily returning there after her middle-of-the-night feedings (which are still roughly three hours apart).

The Mia Wrap

We're trying out a new carrier as an alternative to Mia's beloved Bjorn, in order to give Mom's back a break. This is the Moby Wrap, which lets her feel extra cozy and cuddled. She is sleeping in it as I type. Yes, I feel like a big hippie.

More Visitors

Uncle Brian (David's brother) and Aunt Chris came to meet Mia this weekend.

What do you think -- does Mia look like her uncle?

Brian's a pro at holding a newborn!
As is Aunt Chris, who easily extracted a few smiles.

Mia listens intently as Chris tells her about her latest surgery.

Otter investigates this allegedly fabulous baby scent.

In the Buff

Mia, feeling liberated from the constraints of clothing. Uncle Brian and Aunt Chris are arriving tonight -- yay!

What a Wonderful World

It seems that Mia is discovering the world around her these last few days. We're told six weeks is a big turning point and, indeed, it seems as though you can see the wheels spinning in her head on overdrive as she soaks it all in. Here are some photos of her exploring her play mat.

Swinging

After weeks of crying at the mere sight of it, Mia has concluded that her swing can be pretty entertaining. She is smiling a lot these days, though we're having trouble catching a good shot of it. We'll catch it and post some smile pics soon.

My Clothes Aren't All Pink

Here are some photos of Mia, demonstrating that she has a few pieces in her wardrobe that are not pink.

Mia's Ready For Some Football

We are starting Mia off on the right foot, making sure she is a football fan pretty much from birth. She can decide later which team she loves, but for now, she is a Charger girl (with some Bucs loyalty, of course).

In other exciting news, she slept FIVE uninterrupted hours last night. Lara is beyond thrilled, though she is not getting her hopes up that this is a start of a trend.

The Many Faces of Mia

Mia is almost a month old! She's nearly 8 pounds (we'll confirm at this week's doctor's visit) and really learning to use her lungs. Here are some photos of her many expressions.

Looks Can Be Deceiving...

For the second post, little Mia is featured as she sleeps. But fear not, gentle readers, she is not transitioning into a new phase of slumber -- she is awake as ever. These photos, it seems, were taken in the rare moments when she decided to catch a nap. She still prefers to remain bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for as long as possible.

Also, Otter is alive and well -- happy when friends drop by, since they often bring "big brother" gifts for him. Here he is, enjoying a pig ear in the sunny backyard.
