The wonderful Christie collected several of the ol' CHS crew (the reproducing contingent) over the holidays and invited us for a day of fun and memories at her parents' horse stables. The kids had such fun running around, riding and feeding horses, getting thrown into giant mounds of hay by Uncle Tobey, and exchanging hugs. The same can be said for the adults. Here are some more photos. Thanks, Christie, Donna & Bobby!

The Spirit of Choo Choo Lives On

We took Mia to a train show today and I privately sighed a breath of relief that her recent obsession with princesses and pink has not diluted Mia's love for the locamotive. She was more than thrilled to see the model trains, especially the Christmas exhibit, and excitedly picked out a new Thomas hat (personalized above with her own girly touch). As a mom, I'm not quite ready to abandon the pure wonder that fills her eyes when the choo-choos go by.

I'm Running Out of Holiday Entry Titles...
The tables were turned today, when Mia came home from school with presents for her parents.
She gave us a beautiful foot imprint:

And a cute little angel ornament:

After school, we headed to the Mill Valley Library for a gingerbread cookie making workshop. Colton and Mia were very proud of their handiwork:

A Nutcracker Sweetie
We took Mia to see the Nutcracker today in a scaled-down version for young kids. She and her buddy, Lily, were completely captivated for the entire performance. At one point, Mia's hands started waving in tune to the music as she tried to emulate the movements of the ballerinas. Adorable. Afterwards, the kids had a chance to say hello to the dancers, who posed for photos and distributed some treats (being enjoyed in the above photo). In a fashion note, I urged Mia to consider a different dress for today's performance, but she was certain that only her blue sparkly holiday dress would do.
Here is the photo of Mia with Clara and the Nutcracker, a sad example of the failures of the Blackberry camera...

Breakfast With Santa
The holiday bonanza continued this morning when we went to the local Belvedere Breakfast With Santa. Mia was very excited to wear her new sparkly holiday dress, handpicked herself.

The guest of honor arrived via firetruck, presumably because his sleigh could not handle the rainy weather:

Mia's jaw almost dropped to the floor:

Santa, nearly run over by the crowd of excited kids:

Mia wondered why Santa's beard appeared so precarious:

The Nutcracker is tomorrow. Can you handle all these festivities, dear readers?

Crowning Achievement
FYI, in her hand is an adorable panda tree ornament, sent by our friend, Amy. She picked it up for her panda-obsessed buddy while traveling in China.

Beware the Sparkles, Santa
Princess Mia paid a visit to Santa today and, shocker, she ran right up to him and told him a big story about going to Florida for Christmas and wanting a big pink princess bike. This was a spontaneous visit, so we were stuck with the sparkliest sneakers ever and, of course, the tiara. It's not everyday that Santa gets to meet royalty, I suppose.

Ranch With A View

We went to Slide Ranch today, a lovely little farm that is run by the park service and is nestled on the side of a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The views are breathtaking, making a return visit with a camera other than my phone a definite obligation. There are goats and sheep to pet, chickens and ducks to follow, and many opportunities for hugs with Dada. Perfection.

Getting Closer To Actual Clothes...
The crown is still attached to Mia's head like a limb, but today we at least had more luck getting her to wear an actual outfit that did not come from the costume store or dressup box. A birthday gift from the ever-fashionable Aunt Christie, Mia concluded the adorable flower rendered the dress acceptable.
