On the Road Again

I got the ol' running legs up and moving today, with Teagan along for the ride. They are feeling rather jellyish right now, but it feels great to be jogging again.

It was a relief that Teagan was sleeping and therefore unable to tell me I was moving too slow.

April Showers

One more bout of rain gave the playgroup a last chance (I hope!) to use those rainboots, jackets and umbrellas. We made the most of the wet weather and headed to the Botanical Gardens, where the kids relished being nearly the only humans among all the plant life.

Slumbering Sisters

Mia says she can't wait for her little sister to share her room. I better get that on videotape for playback when that fantasy becomes a reality, eh? For now, here they are practicing:

Good Clean Fun

Teagan's favorite part of the day is bathtime, where she is always wide-eyed, smiley and ready to splash.

Eggcellent Adventures

The playgroup gathered at Dailey's house today for yummy bites and an Easter egg hunt for the kids. We had our most successful photo opportunity since the last party at her house, when the kids were three months and immobile. (Note spontaneous gender separation for the sociologists among you.)

Well, at least she is wearing sensible shoes.

Going Wild for Hogs

Mia and I (and a sleeping Teagan) returned to Tara Firma farms yesterday, this time with school buddy Mia and her little sis Audrey, for a walk around the grounds. We caught up with some goats, or rather, they caught up with us (following us around the entire time), visited with some piggies, and enjoyed a picnic before purchasing some eggs for Easter coloring.

And while Teagan loves napping while we explore the great outdoors, at home she is enthusiastic about saying hello. Don't worry, sweet girl, we do love you!

The Smiling Sister Cycle

Mia is endlessly entertained by Teagan's smiles, which are often in response to Mia smiling at her.

Here's a very quick video of Teagan smiling at me:

Yes, I Do. I Like That Party Hat.

Somebody found the perfect accessory for a casual Sunday night dinner at a local Mexican restaurant.

Your Future Oscar Winners...

This is one of Mia's best school buddies, Henry. He is her go-to playmate for all their pretend play. Usually he is her Prince Charming, but they are often train engineers, firemen, superheroes and other assorted characters. They apparently become quite consumed by their performances (they've been known to waltz together around the classroom) that they are gaining a reputation for being the future school drama club officers. Henry's mom and I only hope that we are invited to join them as their dates when they attend the Academy Awards in a couple decades.

Safari and Smiles

Mia had a field trip to the Oakland Zoo today and, naturally, she insisted on wearing her safari hat for the occasion. Here she is with her buddy, also named Mia:

Teagan, meanwhile, is brushing up on her smiles. Those early smiles that we thought might be unintentional? Appears that she's actually just full of grins -- she's kept them up since those first few days and keeps them coming. I'm not sure what being a precocious smiler means for one's later life, but if means she'll be half as social as her big sister, I think David and I are in for some big trouble.

The video name-checks Grandma because she special requested some action shots of her grandbaby:

Kids On A Log

Playgroup found nature today in the form of the Presidio, where they played on huge logs and explored the forest. Mia was prepared for rain, hence the boots, but fortunately sunshine prevailed.

We Are Very Busy People

What? You were planning on wearing the same outfit today?

Cousin Cole has a very cool skateboard on the side of his stroller, perfect for perusing the zoo:

Look who dropped by the zoo to see Mia and Cousin Cole today:

Back at home, we finally did something about the gazillion lemons hanging from our tree. Mia and I made lemonade, of course:

And while she was a passive participant in the above activities, Teagan would like to make an appearance, too:

Disco Suddenly Back in Style

Our friends, Lisa and James, stopped by to introduce their adorable new puppy, Disco. Said the enthralled Mia: "Disco is the perfect dog for me." I'm sure she meant in addition to her beloved Otter.

Another Fashionista?

Teagan is quite pleased with this colorful ensemble from Uncle Brian and Aunt Chris. Following in her sister's clothing-obsessed footsteps?

In well child doctor visit news, I'm happy to report that the littlest Corey is "thriving." She is nine pounds, two ounces -- an almost three pound gain in her first month! -- and twenty-one and a half inches. This puts her in the 50th percentile for weight and 75th for height. There was also talk of a mystical six hour stretch of sleep that she and her parents should be enjoying by week six or so. Fingers crossed tightly...

From The Home Office...

We're spending a lot more time at home than we are used to these days as we get used to life with a new baby and an adorable consequence of all this homebound-ness has been Mia's growing attachment and love for Otter. She's always loved her furry brother, but she now seeks him out for extra doses of play and snuggles:

And in other news, Teagan is suddenly a month old! We'll get the official count tomorrow, but it seems our little one is trying to gain on big sis as quickly as possible. A weigh-in last week pegged her at a little over nine pounds- a full pound bigger than Mia at the same age. I submit to you that the extra pound can be found in her cheeks:

... And The Living Is Easy

Well, it's not quite summer, but you wouldn't believe it judging by the thermostat. We took full advantage of the rising mercury and headed to Crissy Field. Sadly, we should be back firmly in the sixty degree range by tomorrow, so we haven't packed up the sweatshirts quite yet.
