All In A Day's Play

Summer marches on in the Corey house and, as such, there is much fun to be had.  On the agenda today: ballet camp for Mia, Playland for Teagan with Mila, and outdoor movie night for both girls (featuring a short pre-movie performance by Mia and her fellow ballerinas).  If you need me, I'll be crashing early so that I can rest up for another round tomorrow.

We celebrated Father's Day with some friends this afternoon and the kids had a great time playing together and eating all the classics of summer barbecue.  Mia particularly loved Maddie's dress up box, while Teagan was partial to the fireman's hat.

Mia wrote this note for her Daddy all by herself.  She excitedly told him that she called it "Dads Day" instead of Father's Day because she doesn't know how to spell "Father's" yet.  That might be true, but I'll give her extra points for the ability to add the exclamation point and write her name sideways.

Naughty Girl On A Mission

Teagan, adorable though she may be, also has a naughty streak.  Here she is being caught in a wide array of mischief making: drawing on Mia's closet (which, actually, I permit -- a permission naughty baby doesn't know about), running around torturing Mia (who waits for her reluctantly in the background) and trying to climb some slides.  Good thing she's cute or otherwise she might be headed to baby boot camp.

She's A Wild One

Summer camp kicked off last week with the Richardson Bay Audubon Adventure Camp, which was a good ol' fashioned nature bonanza featuring crabs, katydids, deer, sea glass-filled kaleidoscopes, face painting, and songs.  Mia had so much fun making new buddies and playing with some old preschool friends.  She loved filling me in on what she learned about everyday, including telling me all about invertebrates and poison oak.  Next stop: ballet camp.

Summer Has Officially Arrived

I realize the calendar might be the real indicator, but a semi-naked kid with a popsicle is also a reliable barometer of the season.

Blurry Vision

Teagan rarely stops to pose for the camera these days, leading to some pretty blurry photos.  Dressing up has become big fun for the little one in our house.  The usual drill is for me to dress her up in a new outfit, after which she "runs" (quickly toddles) over to Mia's room to catch a glimpse of herself in Mia's mirror.  She shakes her hips and pats her belly, raving in Teagan talk about her latest look.  While we admire her enthusiasm, her fashion sense might be questionable -- my camera failed to capture her favorite look of yesterday: a pair of shorts secured upside down on her head.

Ain't No Mountain High Enough

Mia is usually a reluctant climber, but perhaps inspired by the lovely mountain casting its gaze upon her the other day at the park, she decided to move onwards and upwards.  To infinity and beyond!

School's Out For The Summer

 

Mia finished up preschool on Friday and after class let out, her girlfriends headed to the park for some pizza and cake.  Fortunately, most of her buddies will be joining her throughout the summer at various camps and, of course, there are always playdates to add to the calendar.  Let the fun begin!

The Graduate (and Her Frilly Sidekick)

Hand and Heart Wide Open

There are certain moments that spontaneously occur when you have kids -- ordinary moments to anybody but their parents -- when your heart melts and you want time to suddenly stand still so you can soak it all in.  Yesterday we were at the local mall when Teagan toddled toward Mia and embraced her and then -- heart melting time -- she reached out for her big sister's hand so they could walk together.  Mia looks so old to me in these pictures leading her little sis around.  Her gentleness and kindness makes me one very proud mama.  And their special bonding moment makes me a very happy one, too.

Sitting Side By Side Not So Silent Reading

Teagan loves Mia's green chair, so we ordered one for her, too (the assembly of which suggests I might have put Mia's cushions in improperly, no?).  Now the girls can quietly read books together. And by that I mean Mia reading loudly and Teagan playing with random magic wands she's found in Mia's closet.

Toddler Trio

Mila, Wylie and Teagan had fun in the pool and around the water table (the toddling set's version of a water cooler) this weekend.  Our attempt at sitting them together for a photo opp was successful for at least one blurry second before all three aborted mission.  The days of them sitting on a blanket immobile is but a fading memory...

Sun Kissed

With sunny skies above and ahead of us for the near future, Mia is all smiles.
