Odds and Ends
Teagan is exhausted. And while one might think that has something to do with her insistence on being wide awake in the middle of the night (notes her grateful and sleepy-eyed parents), it might have something to do with our busy schedule this week.

We made our annual trek to Gilroy Gardens, where Mia happily resumed her love of the goldfish ride and other amusements -- including ice cream with Grandma and Alexis:

Back at home, Mia modeled a new dress gifted from playgroup buddy, Riley, proving becoming a big sister has many fashionable perks:

And, of course, lunch at Rainforest Cafe:

Mia is currently at school taking a breather!
Here's a little video of Teagan from yesterday. Sit tight for a few moments -- the payoff of smiles and silent giggles is at the end:

Swinging Beauty
We do what we got to do to get these little ones to nap. Let's count the sleep aids! 1) pacifier? check; 2) swaddle? check; and 3) swing? check. I think the only thing not here is the white noise machine, although I'm sure the soothing sounds of Mia reading books in her room are sufficient to put Teagan into Snoozeville.

Not Quite a Walk in the Park
We're settling into our morning routine here in Baby Land. After we drop off Mia at school, I engage in some dog wrestling, which is otherwise known as trying to walk an overeager Otter while pushing Teagan's stroller. Teagan has slept through this adventure during our first two efforts, but was wide awake during this morning's roller coaster ride. For an elder, he still has some serious pep in his step.

All Smiles
Here are some videos, too. Lest you think we are doing nothing but blogging, photographing and videotaping all day -- all this posting is the result of my new phone, which really makes it so much easier and faster to keep everybody in the loop. Yay for technology.

The Week's End Wrap Up
Well, folks -- little Teagan is a week old! We had her first in-office pediatrician visit, where we learned she's a very good milk consumer. She actually gained some weight before we left the hospital (instead of the typical loss) and has steadily gained as the week has gone on. She now weighs in at a massive six pounds, ten ounces.
This weekend included another first: Teagan's first trip to Oakland Zoo. She was decidedly unimpressed with the animals and remained asleep for the entire adventure. Mia was decidedly more awake, taking us on a speedy tour of the exhibits and rides. Her favorite panda at the carousel was ready and waiting for her:

Mia is still excited to cuddle with her little sister on the couch:

And Teagan, we are relieved to report, likes the swing:
We are finding that we are using this blog as a handy historical record for remembering things about Mia's infanthood, so forgive us if we start posting every minutiae of Teagan's life. Turns out that as parents, our memories are rather hazy about what did/did not happen, but that the bold print and pictures of the family blog ring true forever!
Finally, here are two photos arriving from San Diego from the files of Fred Corey. The first is likely the last family photo before Teagan was born. The second is another shot of the sisters meeting for the first time.

Getting Settled
Meanwhile, Mia had a great first day back at school as a Big Sister. A big congratulations sign greeted us on the front entry door to her school and lots of hugs and high fives were exchanged. We celebrated our first day of the new normal with Mia helping Mom out in the kitchen making that cornerstone of all American dinners: French toast. Here she is with her finished masterpiece:

Two Peas in a Pod
We're back at home with our family of four (I mean five, Otter!).
Yesterday, Big Sister Mia spent most of the day with Teagan at the hospital. A little birdie must have filled Teagan in on the way to her sister's heart, since she was prepared with three dresses to give her as presents. Here are more photos of their first day together.
Here's some live footage of the first cuddle:

Introducing Teagan Holland Corey!
Once she decided it was time to enter the world, our second beautiful daughter really decided it was time! Labor and delivery went smoothly and quickly and after just a few hours, Teagan Holland Corey joined our family at 8:04 pm on March 5th. She weighed in even lighter than her big sister, at six pounds, four ounces (but is the same length at twenty inches). Teagan is doing great, as are Mom and Dad. We are so excited to have Mia meet her tomorrow morning and give her some of the same kisses and hugs she's been giving Lara's belly for the last few months. By the way, for those wondering who in the family might have the greatest psychic powers, it was Mia who told us all week that her baby sister would be arriving on Saturday.
